Ingredients:
- 1 cup of white rice
- 2 cups of beef broth (or water)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-2 stalks of celery, chopped (optional)
- 1-2 teaspoons Creole seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2-3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooking oil (for sautéing)
Instructions:
- Cook the Rice: In a pot, bring the beef broth (or water) to a boil. Add the rice, cover, and reduce to a simmer. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 18-20 minutes.
- Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Break it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, garlic, and celery (if using) to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season: Stir in the Creole seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Combine Rice and Meat Mixture: Once the rice is cooked, add it to the skillet with the meat and vegetable mixture. Stir everything together until well combined. Allow it to heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and enjoy your Dirty Rice hot!
Feel free to adjust the seasoning and add other ingredients like cooked sausage or spices according to your taste!
